GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 151198
[ RFE ] Enhanced Window List
Last modified: 2007-05-17 15:15:43 UTC
I've been working with Gnome Desktop a few years by now, but there was always one thing that bothers me, and that's the lay-out of the window list. The buttons are just "blocks" it looks unprofessional what Gnome really isn't. Just a few minor changes and you can make it look really cool in my opinion. 1. Cut off one pixel ta the corners. 2. Leave one pixel between buttons.
Created attachment 31009 [details] gnome panel window list gnome panel window list example
1. Cut off one pixel ta the corners. IIRC, the window list just uses GtkButton. So you'll have to install a GTK+ theme that makes button look like this. 2. Leave one pixel between buttons. What happens if you click on this 1-pixel line? I don't know if it looks better (I'm not convinced)... I'm moving the bug to libwnck (where it belongs), but maybe it should be closed WONTFIX...
Possibly a duplicate of bug 83393 and bug 155865.
Moving to the right component. Sorry for the spam.

Buttons on the panel's window list do not have any spacing between them. Would it be possible to add some spacing between them? Several themes could benefit from this enhancement. This behaviour is also consistent with other desktop platforms like Windows. Point your browser to the link below for a point of reference. http://www.deviantart.com/view/14172165/ As you can see, the buttons on the window list for the Gimp windows have some spacing between them. It would be great if this behaviour is consistent across all themes. At the moment, only pixmap themes can implement such behaviour using images. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just adding my original bug report and echoing a "me too" on this issue.

This is really a theme issue: it works quite well in Clearlooks. So it needs fixing in the themes.
