Description Wayne DeAngelo 2004-08-18 15:56:19 UTC
When navigating through Firefox (version 0.9.3, Gnopernicus crashes with score
errors and then the system will completely hang.

My environment is as follows: Jhbuild (CVS head) 08/01 with gives us
gnopernicus 0.9.7, Gnome 2.7.4 and I have Festival as my TTS engine.

Steps to recreate:

1. Start Gnopernicus from a gnome-terminal (with speech enabled).
2. Start up Firefox from another gnome-terminal.
3. Navigate around the menus within Firefox.
4. After a minute or so, you will notice that Gnopernicus will crash with the
follow: info

(srcore:17561): SRSXML-CRITICAL **: Input is not proper UTF-8, indicate
encoding !

(srcore:17561): SRSXML-CRITICAL **: Bytes: 0xD5 0xD8 0x0A 0x65

gnopernicus-ERROR **: file srs-xml.c: line 323 (srs_endElement): should not be
reached
aborting...

(gnopernicus:17560): gnopernicus-WARNING **: srcore exited.

Next: The system will completely hang. You cannot even telnet to the system,
must reboot the system.

For me this sound like 143604. Please check using at-poke if keybindings for
menu-items are correct.
Comment 5 Wayne DeAngelo 2004-08-23 15:37:13 UTC

marking AP0, though the bug is unconfirmed. Test team, are you seeing this bug?
Comment 8 Patrick Wade 2004-08-25 13:07:57 UTC
Haven't seen it, because we never use Firefox, Bill.
Comment 9 Alexandra Telescu 2004-08-25 14:12:56 UTC
Wayne, please check with at-poke if shortcut and accelerator are correct encoded
or apply the patch from comment #3 to see what is sent to speech.

I suspect that is the same problem from #bug 143604 and could be related to #bug
150073 (the bug filed against mozilla for this problem is:
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=246190).
Comment 10 Wayne DeAngelo 2004-08-25 20:34:10 UTC
Update: looking into it.
Comment 11 Javier 2004-08-26 06:38:47 UTC
Seems to be mozilla's keybinding codification, same problem it's happening with
Mozilla 1.6 bringing up the menu when you press f10. Altough at-poke does not
show menu bar within gecko web browser.
Comment 12 Javier 2004-08-26 11:06:53 UTC
In latest build of mozilla 1.8A3 this problem seems to be solved. Also see bug
#246750 in mozilla's bugzilla.
Anyway I think that Gnopernicus should handle this kind of situations without
crashing.
Comment 13 Wayne DeAngelo 2004-08-26 14:03:55 UTC
Investigating whether or not the version of mozilla 1.8A3 fixes the reported
problem. Will build, install and test.
Comment 14 Alexandra Telescu 2004-09-03 09:02:37 UTC
Please see comment 13 from #bug 150073.

Comment 15 remus draica 2004-09-17 13:35:12 UTC
This is the same crash as bug #150073. Closing as duplicate. Please reopen if
the behaviour still persists.
