Description Dirk Ruediger 2004-08-09 09:27:42 UTC
Allow hirarchical categories like this

Categories
  +-- Category 1
     +-- Sub Category 1a
     +-- Sub Category 1b
  +-- Category 2
     +-- Sub Category 2a
        +-- Sub Category 2aa
        +-- Sub Category 2ab
     +-- Sub Category 2b
        ...

P.S.: When Selecting a category for viewing, then display (optionally) also the
images of it's sub categories.
Comment 1 Christophe Bisière 2004-12-22 09:42:08 UTC
I second this. Using categories as keywords, I rely heavily on the search tool
to select pictures on various criteria. Doing this requires many categories.
Without a hierarchical organization of keywords this is rather difficult to handle.

I agree this would be a really useful feature in gthumb.

It really the only way to organize a lage photo colection IMHO.
Comment 3 Dirk Ruediger 2006-07-04 11:49:59 UTC
Switched to digikam (www.digikam.org) ... it has all the features I missed in gthumb.
Comment 4 Timo Saarinen 2006-07-04 17:34:34 UTC
Please, reopen this bug too. I would like to see also this feature in gThumb!
Comment 5 Dirk Ruediger 2006-07-05 11:05:16 UTC
But be sure it wont be added :-/
Comment 6 Antonio 2006-07-05 19:58:11 UTC
I still think this would be a really useful feature to organize large photo collections.

Comment 7 Kimball Robinson 2006-07-16 09:43:40 UTC
I handle about 90 categories with my current picture organizer. I tried gthumb and really liked the interface, except the category dialog. A tree view for categories would be a selling point for me.

Best of luck to you in this,

Marking as obsolete, as this was reported for an unspecified / now-unsupported version and no recent activity has occurred.

Please feel free to reopen this bug report if it describes a bug that still occurs with a current version of gThumb.
