Description Roel Teuwen 2004-07-27 15:22:41 UTC
Using gaim on win32. (gaim bug was closed as Invalid - GTK+ bug)

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100235&aid=994431&group_id=235

When opening new windows (new chat, preferences, any window) the new window is
created in the upper left corner.

The problem is that I am running a spanned multiple display on 2 monitors with
different resolutions.

The Left monitor is virtually positioned at a lower level that the right one,
and is running a lower resolution.

For some reason, the upper left corner for gaim becomes the area off-screen
above the left monitor, causing the windows to be inaccessible.
(it looks as though a rectangular desktop area is expected)

Not sure if this is related to bug #148526, #147693 or #148528 so opening a new one.

Why wouldn't this just be bug 147693?

Bug 147693 talks about windows save position. My problem is that the window is
actually opened off-screen. If the root cause is the same, then yes, it is a
duplicate.
Comment 3 Owen Taylor 2004-07-27 19:32:07 UTC
Well, presumably the reason that it is getting opened offscreen is that
GAIM's (incorrect) memory of its save position is offscreen. If your complaint
is that gaim should never be putting windows offscreen, that's a gaim bug,
since it's perfectly legitimate to have windows partially or even completely
offscreen in some cases.
