Description Rob Staudinger 2004-07-21 20:27:18 UTC
(0) [optional] configure fstab to let any user mount removable media, e.g.
external hd
(1) mount device by using commandline or "Computer" folder
(2) can't unmount device with mouse because no unmount menu entry available;
it's only possible to do that via the context menu - which is not available if
using a one-button-mouse (common for Apple Laptop Hardware).

Of course it's possible to do that by using tools like mouseemu, but that's not
very straight forward. Since it's that easy to mount by simply clicking, there
should IMHO be a similar simple way to unmount.

You can also use the Shift-F10 keyboard shortcut.
Comment 2 Rob Staudinger 2004-07-22 08:57:54 UTC
Thanks! That's helping a lot.
However i still think putting it in the menu would be useful, especially for use
on pen operated tablet PCs, which are maybe even more commonly running GNOME
than apple laptops.

I kind of agree with you here. A possible way to do this could be to add the
"unmount" option in the File menu of the "Computer" window... You would not be
able to unmount directly from the desktop, only by going in "Computer", but it
would be good enough I guess.
