Description Karl Lattimer 2004-07-17 10:05:18 UTC
Microsoft noticed this with the systray, people like writing apps that use it,
but if you're gonna have any sense of it you need to be able to hide certain
icons for 'when you need them (rarely)', sometimes i have 4 things in my
notification area I can't help feeling that its gonna get mighty crowded.
Comment 1 Chris Scobell 2005-07-21 14:18:59 UTC
Confirmed as an unversioned enhancment
Comment 2 Karl Lattimer 2006-10-11 07:46:51 UTC
Notification area should probably remember the icons which are placed there in order to selectively say hide or show even when icons don't currently appear. However this "remembering" needs to be a little more accurate than the microsoft method where for instance a winamp icon has multiple entries for each track its played?!?!?.

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all
old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you still use gnome-panel and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-panel/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
