Can you still reproduce this with a newer version of Nautilus/Gnome? I can't with 2.9.91.
Doesn't crash, but nautilus-2.8.1-4 gives the following error: Error "Unsupported operation" while creating a link to "smb://server/share/folder". Would you like to continue?
