GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 143857
Drag window from desktop to workspace in switcher
Last modified: 2018-01-24 13:22:58 UTC
Description of Problem: I'm using metacity and GNOME 2.6.1, and I'd like the ability to drag a window from the desktop (whatever window) to the workspace switcher. This would move the window to the workspace I dropped it on. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Click the titlebar of some window, or Alt+Left click anywhere in a window 2. Drag it to a different workspace in the workspace switcher panel. 3. Release the mouse button. Actual Results: The window is dragged to the edge of the screen where you have the switcher. Expected Results: Move the window to the workspace you dropped it on.
This is the opposite of bug 163591.
Moving to right component. Sorry for the spam.

Could I bump this? Of course it's not such an important feature, but I noticed that when I hover with the mouse over a window in workspace switcher, then I get a tooltip saying "Click to start dragging ...(the window title)". So it's sort of seems like the request of this bug is implemented but it actually does not work at all. So if the feature does not work, I don't understand why the tooltip says that it is possible to drag.
Btw, my current Workspace Switcher is 2.24.1.
Bernhard, I bet you're using compiz as window manager, drag'n'drop is not working when using compiz, see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505367 for more info.
