Thanks for the bug report. Without a stack trace from the crash it's very hard to determine what caused the crash. Please see http://bugzilla.gnome.org/getting-traces.cgi for more information about getting a useful stack trace. Also, which version of Nautilus are you using?
Nautilus v2.4.0 My apologies for the delay... I guess one can't just hit the "reply" button, huh? I ran a "--check" option for grins and it didn't report any errors at least. ------------------------------------------- The gdb trace is: [New Thread -1087005776 (LWP 7401)] [New Thread -1087272016 (LWP 7402)] [New Thread -1087538256 (LWP 7403)] [New Thread -1087804496 (LWP 7404)] [New Thread -1088070736 (LWP 7405)] [New Thread -1088336976 (LWP 7406)] [New Thread -1088603216 (LWP 7407)] [New Thread -1088869456 (LWP 7408)] [New Thread -1089135696 (LWP 7409)] [New Thread -1089401936 (LWP 7410)] ** ERROR **: file nautilus-directory.c: line 546 (add_to_hash_table): assertion failed: (g_hash_table_lookup (directory->details->file_hash, file->details->relative_uri) == NULL) aborting... I don't think I've ever had one. Putting an empty file there did not help and I could find little useful info what the file should look like.
Thanks for the stack - This is a duplicate of bug 120222. Nautilus tries to display two volumes with the same name. You likely have a volume mounted twice, probably a network volume. Have a closer look at your /etc/fstab.
