I have the colors dialog docked, and I often find myself having to switch layers
and scroll to another part of the image just to get color I was using a few
minutes before. It would be nice if I could access the color history (the
"custom colors"-type color table in the color notebook window) from the colors
dialog.

The color history could also be a separate dockable. Or it could be placed into
an expander at the bottom of the colors dockable.

I would like to see this implemented for GIMP 2.4 as it would make the Colors tab an equivalent replacement for the color selection dialog.

Recently released GIMP 2.9.2 features an automatically built and updated Color History palette available via Palettes dockable dialog. The palette contains recently used colors and stores them across sessions.
