Description Dov Grobgeld 2004-05-22 22:17:45 UTC
I haven't been able to get the status light to work when using the modem light
applet. I start my internet connection with "ifup ppp0" and disconnect with
"ifdown ppp0". In this case there is no lock file connected, and thus I never
get any visual feedback indicating that the connection is up. Support for this
configuration should, imho, be added. Or in case it already works, to the
documentation should be add a description of how to get it to work.

Confirmed in Modemlights 2.6.1.

I was having the same problem, solution:

Change "Lock file" in Preferences -> Advanced to:

/var/run/ppp0.pid

Since this actually works, I'm calling it NOTABUG. Eventually this applet will
be made less complex by having ppp support in gnome-system-tools.
