Description Thomas Lunde 2004-05-21 20:23:34 UTC
Right now, moving image files around on the file system will break Catalogs.
This is true whether the movement is done from within gThumb or by other means
(command line, other file managers, etc.).

While I don't expect that gThumb could magically update catalogs while other
programs change the contents of the filesystem underneath it, it should be smart
enough to incorporate it's knowlege of file movements that _it_ performs and the
state of image catalogs.

When one or more files is moved by using gThumb (via Edit -> Move... or by a
context menu), the appliation should compare the (list of) pathname(s) that it
is moving to it's internal lists of the files that make up Catalogs. If it
finds that there are any matches, it should update the Catalogs with the files'
new paths.

I would say this is a bug rather than an enhancement. It really should update
the catalog lists when an image is moved from within Gthumb.

Thanks Paolo.

I agree, that disappearing of images from catalog after moving by the program built-in command is illogical and renders moving of files that are in some cotalog impossible without losing catalog's records.
Comment 4 Michael Chudobiak 2015-12-18 17:01:20 UTC
Marking as obsolete, as this was reported for a now-unsupported version and no recent activity has occurred.

Please feel free to reopen this bug report if the problem still occurs with a current version of gThumb.
