GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 142495
No way to sort list view unless column visible
Last modified: 2021-06-18 15:47:52 UTC
There is no way to sort the list view unless you click on the header. In the Icons view you arrange items by whatever you want. With the default settings, a person would have to go to the preferences to sort by the date accessed. That makes no sense.
Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been reported into our bug tracking system, but please feel free to report any further bugs you find. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 125833 ***
Sorry, the issue and the suggestions made are different for both bugs, although they overlap.

GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
