GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 142174
opening XWD
Last modified: 2004-05-11 14:50:43 UTC
Iam using a czech version of gimp 2 (2.0 and 2.0.1). If I try to open XWD file I recieve an error message that Gimp can not read head of XWD file. Opening XWD in GIMP 1.x was OK.
Hi, Could you attach a test image, please? What version of X are you using? Cheers, Dave.
Chances are this is the same problem that caused bugs #138178 and #139343. Reporter, please see #138178 for a way to test whether this is your problem. If so, according to Jernej Simoncic the most recent Windows installer should fix it.
Created attachment 27581 [details] XWD XWD is installed on Linux with XFree86 version 4.1.0 but screenshot was taken from remote computer with Solaris system.
The file you attached is a ZIP file. If you unzip it, GIMP opens it just fine. Closing the bug report as INVALID.
Can I send you a screenshot with error about opening the xwd file? Anyway, thank you for your time.
Created attachment 27600 [details] screenshot of error while opening xwd file there is a screenshot of error on windows 2000. I have tried to open xwd file already on three computer but with the same result.
Please read my comment (#4). This file you are trying to open is not an XWD file but a ZIP archive containing an XWD file.
I am no idiot! I have saved it like zip becouse of size. Ota
Well, why didn't you say so earlier? OK, so then the file you attached still opens fine in GIMP-2.0 on Linux. So you are most likely experiencing the problem described in bug #138178. Please update your GIMP using the most recent Windows installer. If that doesn't fix the problem, please report back.
Since the XWD plug-in uses getc() to read the header it is very likely that this is the problem described in bug #138178. Closing as duplicate. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 138178 ***
Sorry for my previous #8 report. I have to teach how to report a bugs and without emotions :-) Now I have downloaded and installed latest Gimp 2.0.1 (updated installer). Now it works. Thank you very much for your help. Gimp is great! Ota
