Description Sascha Becher 2004-05-07 13:12:45 UTC
As in former versions I wanted to assign
key "k" for gamma-curves, "h" for hue-saturation,
"f" for flatten and so on. Since version 2.0 I have
to enable dynamic keybindings and its saving
in the options dialog.
This does only works for some but not all the
functions. I reported it a while ago and got
an answer to enable it in the options dialog,
which I already did.
It´s hard to work fast, while I have to open
two sub-menues just to select an alpha-border
of a layer.
I now also have to anchor a floating selection
to a layer by clicking on a button in the
layer-dialog, instead of clicking on the selection.
Why is that practical? Please make it configurable
or remove these new features.

Thanks!

Hi,
Mnemonics, unfortunatelly, do conflict with dynamic shortcuts, in
a way that dynamic shortcuts, as of GIMP 2, are only usable with "shift" or
"ctrl" combinations, with a few exceptions.
However, if one needs more permanent short-cuts, you can edit by hand your
~/gimp-2.0/menurc - go there now and assing the keys you need.

We should, however, think of a better way for dynamic shortcuts to work in the
future - I think that having a hot-key that would make the next key combination
to be assigned to a menu item regardless of mnemonics would be fine.

Examble: open <image>edit menu, hover over "stroke" press <f2>(the
hotkey), and them "S".

Why can't you anchor a floating selection the old way any longer? Works for me.

The mnemonics colliding with the accelerators is handled in bug #120034.

Now this really helps!
