Description Kai Willadsen 2004-04-28 01:04:05 UTC
It would be nice to be able to print diffs between files. At the simplest level,
this could be just printing a gtksourceview-highlighted unified diff or similar.

I must 2nd this,
A full detailed diff just like the one that appears on the screen should be available on print.
This feature is a must, if you want your software to be used in enterprise.

I also think this would be a great feature. I use Meld all the time for visual diffs, but had to go looking for another tool to get a printout. Kdiff3 is one of the few that can do this, but the diff engine is not, IMHO, as good as Meld. For now I'm using the compare documents tool in OpenOffice Writer, as the best option to get a human readable printout of changes to a text (Latex) document.
Comment 3 Kai Willadsen 2014-03-01 01:05:40 UTC
I think this is never going to happen. Even though I originally filed this bug, it's not immediately obvious that a print out of a Meld-like comparison would be better than just printing a unified diff, and it's a substantial amount of work.

If someone wants to work on this, I'd suggest opening a new bug with a convincing proposal as to what this feature would actually do and what benefits it provides. Unless that's done (and convincing), I'm going to call this out of scope for Meld.
