Description Gareth Carroll 2004-04-23 16:55:34 UTC
Description of Problem:
When I have java Jframes that are minimised, if
they pop up a modal dialogue
(JOptionPane.showOptionPane, for example), then
the dialogue is not shown on the main screen.
Most other window managers seem to display this
dialogue. I see this problem on both Linux and
Solaris with Gnome 2.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Bring up a Java app that uses JFrame and modal
dialogue.
2. Minimise the window
3. Do something that should bring up a modal
dialogue belonging to that app.

Actual Results:
The dialogue is created but is not shown until you
restore (un-minimise) the app.

Expected Results:
Other window managers seem to display the modal
dialogue on the main screen if the app it belongs
to is minimised.

How often does this happen?
Always

Moving this bug to metacity since it isn't a gdm problem. Metacity seems right
to me.

Brian: When reassigning bugs, don't forget to select "Reassign bug to owner of
selected component", otherwise the maintainers of the new module won't be
notified about it (unless one of them is also a crazy bugsquad member who hangs
out in #bzbot).

Since I can't mark as a dupe and reassign in one step, I'll do this in two...
