Description hans 2004-04-20 07:57:16 UTC
Description of Problem:
Mounting devices on computer:// creates a
duplicate icon of the device on the desktop. The
desktop icon is redundant, uneeded and potentially
confusing for new users.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Mount a device by clicking on a device in
computer://
2. Show desktop. Viola: duplicate device icon.

Actual Results:
Redundant icons show up on the desktop.

Expected Results:
There should be no icons. Device icons should show
up only within computer://

How often does this happen?
Always (gnome2.6)

Additional Information:
Another possiblity: Enable an option to restore
gnome2.4 desktop context menu disk mounter, which
mounts things on the desktop. Said option should
also disable computer:// icon, so there is no
duplication of functionality.
