GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 140386
copy/paste folder overwrites all contents of an existing folder with the same name
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
given the folder: /mnt/removable_disk/DCIM/211CANON/ (here a mounted compact flash volume - though this is irrelevant, i have tested and this is reproducible given any identically named folders in two locations) and the folder: /data/images/211CANON copying of the folder "/mnt/removable_disk/DCIM/211CANON/" in nautilus and pasting it into the "/data/images" folder completely removes all contents of the existing "/data/images/211CANON" folder. Result: all 90 images in the folder are gone, replaced by the five new images from the compact flash card. Expected result: the new files in "/mnt/removable_disk/DCIM/211CANON/" are copied into the existing "/data/images/211CANON" folder, and the folder contains all previous contents and the new files as well. This behaviour is consistent with "alternative operating systems" as well as the "cp -R" command in GNU/linux.
