Description of Problem:
CPU spikes at 100% when the gnome terminal has a 'transparent'
background. When I switch to non-transparent, it function correctly.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Set Gnome terminal profile to use transparency.
2. Open gnome terminal

Actual Results:
CPU spikes and performance is almost unusable

Expected Results:
No performance problems.

How often does this happen?
Everytime.

What's your desktop background?

This problem (I've since found) occurs when there is no desktop background image
set, it will only occur on the default background (or background with a plain
colour).
