Description James Olsen 2004-03-25 18:35:36 UTC
I have a FON font that causes Gimp-2.0.exe to crash. If I remove this font
Gimp will open. If I put the font back, Gimp will crash on startup when
scanning fonts. The message is:

(gimp-2.0.exe:4136): GLib-CRITICAL **: file gconvert.c: line 498 (g_convert):
assertion `str != NULL' failed

I found another set of people (Swedish) using a prelease of Gimp 2 with the
same problem, but with a different font:

http://www.spinics.net/lists/gimpwin/msg01746.html

I do not want to permantently remove the font since I use the font as the main
font in my editor (MultiEdit) and it has special graphical hex codes for
control characters, so instead of seeing a circle for TAB when viewing a file,
I will see the word "tab" as represented by the single character using this
font.

If this problem is hard to resolve by fixing whatever is causing the error,
would it be possible to add a configuration directive or startup parameter
where people can tell Gimp to ignore certain fonts? For example, a parameter
like "--ignore_font=blah.fon"?

Thank you for your time.
