Description Vincent Noel 2004-03-17 16:55:48 UTC
Whenever I open a pdf with gpdf, I have to change the window size to be
able to see the displayed page in its entirety. Then I can quickly browse
back and forth in the document thanks to gpdf clear interface.
However when I close the window and open another pdf, the window size I
choose is forgotten, and the window size is back to default. This forces me
to change the window size again, especially when I turn the sidebar on
(only a very small part of the page is shown). This problem would be
resolved by gpdf remembering the last window size.
Comment 1 Rémi Cohen-Scali 2004-03-17 17:07:12 UTC
Yes a task have been planned for adding preferences (gconf keys) in
gpdf/gnome-pdf-viewer. Window size will be one of the very first...
Comment 2 Vincent Noel 2004-03-17 17:25:53 UTC
Ok, good to know that... I think gpdf is the gnome app I use the most,
with epiphany and evolution... and the last versions are almost
perfect for daily use.

Is there a bug number to track the preferences work ?
Comment 3 Rémi Cohen-Scali 2004-03-17 17:51:56 UTC
This will be the one... ;-)
Martin would you reassign please?
I'll throw a list of possibles keys as a base for discussions.
Could also handle the preference dialog problem here.
Agreed?
Comment 4 Martin Kretzschmar 2004-03-18 13:42:16 UTC
Reassigned to Rémi.

patch to make gpdf remember its window size

I had some free time this afternoon, so here is a patch to make gpdf remember
its window size. It it duplicates your own efforts feel free to discard it. It
needs also two files (gpdf-prefs.c and .h) that I will attach.

gpdf-prefs.h

for the patched version to compile, both files should be put in gpdf/shell.

Comment 9 Vincent Noel 2004-08-09 20:26:38 UTC
Bug 138821 has also a patch to implement this, so it seems to be a popular
feature request.
Comment 10 John McPherson 2005-01-18 00:25:39 UTC
This patch adds a great feature, and applies against gpdf-2.8.0 sources. Any
reason why it isn't applied into cvs yet?
Comment 11 Martin Kretzschmar 2005-11-13 14:08:37 UTC
Closing WONTFIX. GPdf is no longer maintained. Please use evince for your pdf
viewing needs.

http://www.gnome.org/projects/evince/

I apologise for never reviewing this patch.

Evince does remember the window sizes for each file.

Comment 12 Zack Weinberg 2006-01-29 21:58:15 UTC
evince does not remember window sizes, even in 0.5, nor does it pick sensible window sizes to begin with. Reopen, reassign to evince.
Comment 13 Karsten Bräckelmann 2006-01-30 00:40:49 UTC
Done. Version set as per private comment.

Thanks for taking care about this and ensuring software quality. :)

We already discuss this evince issue in another bug
