GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 137367
need High and Low Contrast a11y icon for gdmflexiserver
Last modified: 2010-06-04 19:43:41 UTC
There is currently no functional High Contrast icon for accessibility. Using the standard 'System Tools' menu and a High Contrast theme, this is clearly evident and inconsistent. There is a need for an icon to work with - High Contrast theme - High Contrast Inverse theme - Low Contrast theme - Low Contrast Inverse theme
I don't understand this bug. It's logged against gdm; does it occur at the gdm/login prompt screen? Is this referring to the four icons for "Session", "Language", "Actions", and "Shutdown"? Or is it referring to something related to gdm once the user is logged in? (the icon for "New Login" in Launch->Applications->System Tools)? Separately, is there any expectation that gdm will display in a high-contrast (or any other) theme? I don't have such an expectation...
gdm _does_ theme (at least, gdmlogin does); I believe we agreed that was a requirement :-) Note that gdmlogin (_not_ the graphical greeter, gdmgreeter), has theme options in a menu. If a user knows the keyboard shortcuts for the menu items (uhh, I _think_ the items have mnemonics ;-), then gdmlogin will change its appearance on-the-fly.
I believe this bug refers to the icons which gdm uses in the Applications->System Tools menu.

Also need low contrast icons. Marking 143637 duplciate, since it's the same bug just for low contrast.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, you are using a version that is too old and not supported anymore. GNOME developers are no longer working on that version, so unfortunately there will not be any bug fixes for the version that you use. By upgrading to a newer version of GNOME you could receive bug fixes and new functionality. You may need to upgrade your Linux distribution to obtain a newer version of GNOME. Please feel free to reopen this bug if the problem still occurs with a newer version of GNOME.
