GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 137315
nautilus cut and paste functions fail to work
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Distribution: Slackware Slackware 9.1.0 Package: nautilus Severity: normal Version: GNOME2.4.3 2.4.x Gnome-Distributor: Dropline Systems Synopsis: nautilus cut and paste functions fail to work Bugzilla-Product: nautilus Bugzilla-Component: File and Folder Operations Bugzilla-Version: 2.4.x Description: Description of Problem: I frequently have problems making file cut and paste operations work. I highlight the files, and using either the menu or the keyboard, I cut the files. When I paste them to another location in Nautilus, the operation does nothing at all. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The delete key also often fails, requiring several presses before Nautilus will delete the files. No, it isn't my keyboard. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. select files in Nautilus 2. press ^X to cut file, or select <E>dit->C<u>t File from the menu 3. change to another location in Nautilus (ex. go up or down a level) and try paste Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: The cut files should be moved to the new location. How often does this happen? Very frequently, but so far I cannot detect a pattern. It *does* happen more often if I am moving up in the hierarchy than in any other case. For example, moving to /usr/files/moveme, cutting files, going to /usr/files, and pasting.
