GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 135795
IWarp plugin texturing enhancements
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:35:26 UTC
hello fellow gimp devs :) trying out the iwarp plugin i first have to say its really sweet! doing a lot of texturing work for 3d, i have two enhancement ideas for this nice little plugin to boost usability. a - would be great to have an (optional?) 1:1 sized display of the image in the iwarp window. its really important to get close to the pixels :) b - in 3d you often have an image of the uv coordinates of the 3dmodel you are painting as a reference for the texture you are doing in 2d (gimp). so it would be verry cool if one can load an reference image into the iwarp window to modify the texture according to this one. think a layer with transparency as guide, so one can push the pixels around and match up the uv coordinate reference image. hope this makes sense. loveit, lars g.
Unfortunately noone is really looking after the iwarp plug-in, we are only carrying it along. A patch would certainly increase the likelihood that such improvements are being made.
oh ok maybe i can get a friend of mine enhace it a little bit. personally im only an stupid artist ;) where can i checkout the plugin source included in the actual release? havent found it in the cvs tree. thanks, lars ps. and please keep this plugin in the codebase
The IWarp plug-in source code is found in plug-ins/common/iwarp.c.
The first of these improvements will be available when the preview widget is integrated (of course, the plug-in will need to actually use the widget); the second is a little harder to comment on, because I don't understand it :) Cheers, Dave.
with part b. i mean the ability to have a locked image layer with controlable opacity as a visual guide in the iwarp window. so one knows where to move the pixels to match up this reference image. hope its clearer now ;) best, lars
(Re) setting a few target milestones now that 2.2 is coming closer.
