Description Martijn Vernooij 2004-02-25 22:18:02 UTC
The .desktop type is one of the most dangerous file types present on gnome
systems. They have any image you want, and any title you want. They can
point to any command or script you want.

It should not be so easy to download one of these files to your desktop and
have it appear, ready to click.

This can be made much harder by requiring them to be executable.

This isn't really something that should be discussed in bugzilla. Feel free to
take this up on the relevant lists on freedesktop.org though. If something like
this is to be done I think it needs to be incorporated in the standard etc.
