GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 134416
Nautilus keeps busy CD-ROM device and does not allow ejecting
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Description of Problem: If I mount CD-ROM from nautilus and open a file with an application, after closing that application nautilus keeps busy the device. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Right click on desktop, mount CD-ROM and open from icon. 2. Open a file (such as .jpeg) with nautilus then close it. 3. Right click on CD-ROM icon, -> eject ; now it really ejects, *but*: 2b) Open a file (such as the same .jpeg as above) with another application (say eog) end then close it and close the device window. 3b) Right click on CD-ROM -> eject ; now it cannot eject and says that the resource is busy; *Moreover* Let us start from point 3b) when nautilus says that the resource is busy. Now: 1) I logout to gdm (I use gdm) 2) go to another virtual console (say tty2) and login as root 3) unmounting CD-ROM is now ok *but* 2b) re-login (in gnome with nautilus) without having unmounted CD-ROM 3b) right click on CD-ROM icon -> eject ; it doesn't eject and says the resource is busy Actual Results: Nautilus keeps busy CD-ROM when I open files in CD-ROM with applications not in nautilus (e.g. eog for graphics, rhythmbox for music, and so on) and doesn't allow eject. Expected Results: Nautilus frees the device as I close applications and the window of the device How often does this happen? always Additional Information: Nautilus 2.4.1 Debian sarge (testing) Linux kernel 2.4.24 In /etc/fstab I have /dev/cdrom /cdrom iso9660 ro,user, noauto 0 0
