GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 134096
shortcuts ignored when menubar is hidden
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Shorcuts are ignored when menubar is hidden. Some say that is intended behaviour since they can interfere with some text applications. That is true, but: 1) that doesn't explain why they work with the menubar visible (the reasoning is the same, they interfere) 2) you can make a profile where shortcuts are disabled and use that one for those cases. This is particularly painful if you use tabs but want to save screen space by hiding the menubar. You can't change tabs but by using the mouse, which is very bad from many points of view (efficiency, usability, etc...). My particular version of gnome-terminal is 2.5.1 from Fedora Core's development series.
