Description Matt T. Proud 2004-02-06 01:50:44 UTC
Regarding the "Connect to remote server" dialog box of Nautilus, it would
seem very practical for it to contain a button that would spawn a tooltip
of sample pathname construction conventions.

I mean, it would really improve upon the usuability for those unfamiliar
with the system.

Consider if a tooltip was available on this connection dialog that would
provide this information:

Path Specifications Available:
http://server:port/full/path/to/file/or/directory
ftp://username:password@hostname:port/path/to/file/or/directory
smb://(SMB URL Specifications)
sftp://username@hostname

Further extensions:

1.) Extended URL Logic Verification

2.) Really, why should one not extend this to the special items of the VFS
like CD Burning or, for example, say Compaq Ipaq VFS.

It's probably better to do this through the UI though instead of
having the user type in a URI manually: such as a bunch of radio
buttons for all available gnome-vfs modules e.g. ftp, dav, ssh, etc.
like in putty (a ssh/telnet client).

Changing the Summary to something more readable.
