Description DmD (Spider) Ljungmark 2004-02-02 12:34:50 UTC
Well, this page is the default opera homepage, as saved by Opera.

 file opera.yahoo.com.html
opera.yahoo.com.html: ASCII C++ program text, with very long lines

This is the errormessage from gedit :
Could not open the file
"/home/people/administra...der/opera.yahoo.com.html" because gedit has not
been able to automatically detect the character coding.

Please, check that you are not trying to open a binary file and try again
selecting a character coding in the 'Open File...' (or 'Open Location') dialog.

--

The file is a normal html one, except that it has a trailing NULL
character. (opera -> said url, and it gets that from the server per default)

Though I still feel that gedit should open the file.

If that attachment is wget'ed, it causes the bug...however if opened
in epiphany and saved as...it opens up fine. Potentially to do with
epiphany correcting a buggy html page's encoding and gedit maybe not
able to decipher it?

I am running gedit 2.5.3

Yep , that behaviour is reproducible here as well. Its still a bug in
gedit though. :)
