Description rob 2004-01-02 18:53:48 UTC
Package: nautilus
Severity: major
Version: 2.2.1
Synopsis: nautilus crashes occasionally with segfault w/ kernel 2.4.23
Bugzilla-Product: nautilus
Bugzilla-Component: Desktop
BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.2.0.1)

Description:
Description of Problem:
With no apparent nautilus foreground activity (eg., while manipulating a
mailbox in Evolution) nautilus generates the "...crashed due to a fatal
error." dialog.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. unclear -- the problem seems to occur more or less at random
2.
3.

Actual Results:

Expected Results:

How often does this happen?
Infrequently -- since upgrading to kernel version 2.4.23, I've seen it
happen roughly once a week, with heavy desktop usage.

Additional Information:
This may not actually be a nautilus bug -- it almost looks like a
libgtk/libpthread interaction of some sort... for reference, I'm running kernel v 2.4.23
on a 512M IBM A31 laptop.
