Gossip just hang on the startup for some minutes (the space is added in the
notify area but the icon not drawned and the interface in hanged) if the
server doesn't response. I had this behaviour with jabber.org today, and
seems to act in the same way if the server IP is set to a machine where the
port is blocked (with a firewall for example).
