Description Dan Lenski 2003-11-13 19:40:36 UTC
Description of Problem:
* When the computer's power source is changed, the
battstat applet never changes the displayed power
source icon, nor is the tooltip changed.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Add battstat-applet-2 to GNOME panel
2. Check "Show power connection status" in applet
preferences
3. Change power source (e.g. plug/unplug computer)

Actual Results:
* Power source icon does not change

Expected Results:
* Power source icon should change next time applet
display refreshes.

How often does this happen?
* Every time I change the power source on my laptop.

Additional Information:
* Although the power source icon does not change
when I unplug the computer, the battery level is
still updated regularly.
* I'm running debian unstable on an HP Pavilion
ze1230 laptop, with a 2.4.22 kernel. Power
management is via ACPI. acpid socket is
/var/run/acpid.socket. The battstat applet is
from the gnome-applets-2.4.0-2 package.

i got the same error.

using Debian Sid with Kernel 2.4.23-rc1

if i restart /etc/init.d/acpid restart then the icon changes and show
the right value (battery or cable)

i saw that when i close the applet and add it new to the panel, it
show the updated configuration

There's a Debian bug report about this at
"http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=219580" that has a
workaround patch.

If you guys can, please try the patch from 129167 and see if that
fixes the problem- it definitely sounds like the bug you're having.
