When I choose a custom print command ('gpr'), I have to do it every
time I start gnumeric. (There were some reasons not to do a symlink
lpr->gpr.)

Could the change be made permanent?

The code for this is in place. Because of a long-standing gnome-print
bug this feature is disabled.
