Description Maciej Katafiasz 2003-10-27 21:17:36 UTC
When there is no tagging for artist / title, file name should be used to
derive this info. Currently, filename is used literally as a title - should
at least strip extension. It would be good to parse name and split on
common delimiters like '-', it may be however hard to decide which part is
which, as there are many conventions used. Maybe some dialog asking for
format when adding such files, together with option of tagging them
approprietly when this becomes available?
Comment 1 Bastien Nocera 2003-10-27 22:37:51 UTC
IMO, remove the extension is a fine idea, but I guess there are better
tools at retagging MP3s that should be used in place of your idea.
Comment 2 Maciej Katafiasz 2003-10-28 18:31:18 UTC
The purpose is, as I see it, to eliminate the need to use any other
tools than RB except for very specific tasks. RB, is, after all, music
player and _organizer_. So IMHO it should either offer these
capabilities or serve as interface for other tools that have them. We
shouldn't expect user to drop using RB for badly tagged part of his /
her collection and go in search for other tool.
