GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 125313
No text is selectable in Gnome-About
Last modified: 2007-11-12 22:19:59 UTC
None of the text presented in the Gnome-About application is selectable, via the mouse or otherwise.
Patrick, do you want to add a priority to this bug?
Gnome About should be fixed by using the standard about dialog like everyone else. The only thing genuinely useful in About Dialogs is the Versioning Information, and not being able to select and copy the text is annoying. Waiting for the animation to pass by is tedious if you just want to find a name. Eye candy at the expense of functionality is a really bad idea.

Just wondering: what text should be selectable? Everything or only the version/distributor/date?

Ubuntu bug about that: https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-desktop/+bug/3223

Hmmm, canvas black magic. Seems like there's no "selectable" or alike property.
Still here on Ubuntu 7.10. Version Information: Ubuntu Gutsy gnome-desktop-data 1:2.19.90-0ubuntu1
gnome-about has been rewritten in python and doesn't use a canvas anymore. This bug is fixed now. See bug 481585 for more details.
