via the mouse or otherwise.

Gnome About should be fixed by using the standard about dialog like everyone else. 

The only thing genuinely useful in About Dialogs is the Versioning Information,
and not being able to select and copy the text is annoying.  

Waiting for the animation to pass by is tedious if you just want to find a name.  
Eye candy at the expense of functionality is a really bad idea.

Everything preferably, but version/distributor/date are the functional and important information.

gnome-about has been rewritten in python and doesn't use a canvas anymore. This bug is fixed now. See bug 481585 for more details.
