Description mail 2003-09-28 21:35:14 UTC
Since I upgraded to Gnome 2.4 from Slackware 9.1, font size in dia is soooo
small that I can't read anything anymore, i.e. almost invisible. Font size
seems also independent of the zoom factor I select. It looks the same at
25% and 400% zoom.

Also, even at largest font-size (10.0) that is chosable in the dialog, it's
far too small.

It was ok with gnome from slack 9.0 (gnome 2.2. i think). I tried
recompiling after upgrading gnome with no success. I also tried rm -Rf
~/.dia, also with no success.

This effectively renders dia useless for me. It's a pity, 'cause I like
your program.

This is a problem with Pango 1.2.4+, and has been fixed in 0.92-pre3,
soon to be 0.92.

The new Gnome 2.4 release unfortunately (for me) contained Pango
1.2.5, which caused the fonts to disappear in Dia 0.91. I was able to
resolve this by downgrading Pango to 1.2.3. So far, so good.

Now, a number of other people have had similar problems, but we are
still too few for the distro (Gentoo) to consider a general downgrade
of Pango for all users of Gnome. So, would it be possible to find some
intermediate solution while waiting for Dia 0.92? I was mostly
wondering if it would be easy to patch around this problem, but if the
0.92 release is coming very soon it might not be worthwile.

Opinions, suggestions?

0.92 is coming as soon as I can possibly get it out. It fixes that
problem, but I still have to make a fix for PS output and have it be
out a few days. Keep your eyes on the Dia list.
