Description Gianluca Sartori 2003-09-04 14:26:44 UTC
Typing a URL with a password field result in the
password to be shown on the screen. This is not
good especially in open space environments.
Could be useful to have the password hidden with
the usual * method.
Copying the URL should result in the password
(with the rest of the URL, of course) to be copied
in memory.

For example I created a new launcher of type
"Link" on my desktop with the following URL:
ftp://username:password@host.domain.it. Clicking
on the launcher results in a new nautilus window
with the password shown as part of the URL. I'd
like to see something like this instead:
ftp://username:********@host.domain.it

The same behaviour could be implemented by each
URL control in GNOME.

Added GNOMEVER2.5 keyword. (feature request)

This should not happen anymore with in the GIO-powered world. Closing as OBSOLETE, feel free to reopen if it still applies to recent versions.
