Description Jörgen Busink 2003-08-28 19:00:41 UTC
Description of Problem:
When you enter a folder and use backspace key to
go back one folder, the previous folder seems to
be selected (visually). However when you use the
cursor keys to move up or down the folder
selection jumps to the top of the folder listing.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Create 3 directories A, B, C
2. Open diretory C
3. Use the backspace key to go back

Directory C is selected, use the down arrow on
your keyboard; Directory B is now selected.
Nautilus seems to reset the file/folder selection
to the first object in the list, however not
visually. This is quite confusing.

There are simmilar issues with the file selector:
When you open a new nautilus window and use the
keyboard to select files/folders (down arrow),
nautilus always selects the second object in the
list instead of the first.

How often does this happen?
always

Additional Information:
Nautilus 2.2.4

I was able to reproduce a similar issue on HEAD, only with the list
view, though this is just a wild guess since you filed this bug
against the "file and folder operations" component.

 Chris

Right, it only happens in list view - icon view works. I'm now running
nautilus 2.4.0 on Gentoo.

I'm not sure which component fits better than "file and folder
operations". Feel free to change the component if necessary.

Not an issue in spatial view as you might imagine, but I still see
this in navigational mode too. Updating status whiteboard to reflect
a11y team's assessment of priority.

Is this a duplicate of bug #131226?
Comment 5 Jörgen Busink 2004-01-30 13:53:47 UTC
From a user's point of view I'd say so, yes.
