Description Colin Marquardt 2003-08-14 16:23:52 UTC
For some characters like the different spaces, it is hard to
discern what they really look like, or if they are actually
existant in the selected font. Therefore, an optional
bounding box display would be nice. This would ideally also
show the baseline of the font.
Comment 1 Noah Levitt 2003-09-04 23:01:22 UTC
Could be useful... more so for font designers, though. Programs like
pfaedit have this functionality (it's essential for them). I'm
undecided on whether it's a good idea for gucharmap. Anyway, it's not
going to get in gnome 2.4, so I can put it off for a while. If you
have any other thoughts feel free to add them.
Comment 2 Behnam Esfahbod 2004-12-28 10:27:41 UTC
IMHO thats better to show the bounding box for glyphs without any visual part,
and show the baseline or dotted circle for transparent glyphs (with the length
equal to width of glyph).
Comment 3 Behdad Esfahbod 2005-12-12 16:17:56 UTC
Show all of these (boundary box, base line, etc), using a gray shade, maybe
dashed line. Much easier after moving to cairo. But Behnam, you should
seriously give it a try. It's pretty easy.
