GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 118515
pango_xft_render_layout gone missing
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
There's probably a good reason for it, but you're not on irc, so I'll ask here. Why is there no pango_xft_render_layout or pango_xft_render_layout_line?
Because by the time I needed them, I had gdk_draw_pango_layout, etc, and I didn't need them. I don't think it would hurt to add such functions, but I don't want yet another copy of the render-layout / render-layout-line code, so see bug 107668, which discusses a generic mechanism for driving layout rendering with a callback function.
Ok. Just want to note that the absence of these functions is one of the barriers to using pango for non-gtk+ X apps. (Not the biggest barrier-- that would be lack of docs/tutorial, I think.)
Included in the PangoRenderer patch in: http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-i18n-list/2004-July/msg00014.html
Has been committed.
