Description Jian He 2003-07-05 04:38:59 UTC
The bookmarks feature allows user to mark certain lines, to be able to
easily find them again.
Comment 1 Dave Bordoley [Not Reading Bug Mail] 2003-07-05 16:18:53 UTC
If you were going to do this, it would be cool if this metadata was
associated with the document itself. That way when you update the file
or copy and paste text somewhere into it, your bookmark to line 86
will correctly redirect to line 215 where the bookmarked text now resides.
Comment 2 Paolo Borelli 2004-03-25 17:53:16 UTC
Do the original reporter really mean *lines*... what's the point of bookmarking
a line??

Comment 3 Stephen Kennedy 2004-07-21 15:42:01 UTC
Its quite useful to mark several points in a file so that you can
very quickly move between them. Especially handy for large
source files.

Also many editors have a "mark lines matching this pattern" option
from the find dialog.
Comment 4 Timo Saarinen 2006-01-05 13:55:53 UTC
And of course this should be implemented as a plugin to keep the default UI simple.
Comment 5 Paolo Maggi 2006-03-04 18:32:57 UTC
We are moving all the request for plugins that we don't plan to add to gedit
itself on http://live.gnome.org/Gedit.

Closing as WONTFIX.
