GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 116392
Theme Manager uses wrong directory for Icon themes
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: control-center Severity: normal Version: GNOME2.2.2 1 os_details: FreeBSD GNOME Project Synopsis: Theme Manager uses wrong directory for Icon themes Bugzilla-Product: control-center Bugzilla-Component: theme-manager Description: Description of Problem: When Installing an Icon theme via the Theme Manager, either via install button, or drag and drop, it is placed in $HOME/.themes instead of $HOME/.icons While this is absolutely ok for GTK and or Metacity themes, it is the wrong place for icons. According to http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/icon-theme-spec/icon-theme-spec.html the icons should go into $HOME/.icons, /usr/share/icons or /usr/share/pixmaps. Not even the theme manager itself is able to display the icon themes residing in the $HOME/.themes folder. Moving the icons to the .icons folder makes them visible to the theme manager (therefore allowing choice of the icon-theme), as well as every other application that looks for the icons. Possible solutions: 1. Make the theme manager detect any icons in a theme file and store them in $HOME/.icons 2. Tell theme manager, as well as any other app that uses icons to also look for them in $HOME/.themes 3. Show a message to the user when installing a theme that he has to handle Icons by hand ------- Bug moved to this database by unknown@bugzilla.gnome.org 2003-06-30 18:09 ------- The original reporter (florian@SPAM_REMOVEwoanders.de) of this bug does not have an account here.
