Description of Problem:
The utility crashes when invoked from the 
RedHat menu(?) on Red Hat Linux 9.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. invoke it from red-hat menu of Bluecurve
2. 
3. 

Actual Results:
Got an error message like:
Application "gnome-sound-recorder" (process 19372)
has crashed
due to a fatal error.
(Aborted)
