GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 114808
Accidentally setting huge font while editing text causes havoc
Last modified: 2003-06-09 23:07:02 UTC
When using the text tool in GIMP 1.3, after writing some text, several times I have accidentally typed a huge number in the font size field of the text tool dialog. While GIMP automatically scales the number down to 8192 (px), it still goes on it's way trying to render my text in that huge font. Before I even notice, I have switched to another window and the system has gone unresponsive and GIMP starts creating a _huge_ swap file. In some cases I have lost my work this way. The Gnome HIG says to forgive the user. This is a severe breach of that principle. I think if the number is exessively large it should warn me, or perhaps there should be a "Cancel" button or another way to recover my work.
