GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 112545
"not a registered protocol" behaviour
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
I think this is an old 'feature', but if some moron has a page that has:· cnn then I think 'middle clicking' on the link should open a new tab -and- put the url in the header (so you can edit it). I mean the new tab has opened anyway, isnt it better to give the user a chance to correct it? Currently, if you 'middle click' to open a new window/tab then· it pops up a 'hhttp is not a registered protocol' (well duh) but the· url box is empty. *shrugs* (For no reason i can think of).

Spell checkers are usually meant to be used on the writer's side... Having a small typo in the URL is a small subset of all invalid/unsuppored URLs, the fix in bug 116511 seems more generally useful. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 116511 ***
