GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 112278
It is possible to place an emblem on the meta files such as trash
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Description of Problem: Using the drag and drop feature of the Backgrounds and Emblem's it is possible to place an emblem on the Trash (and probably other special case desktop entries). It is not possible to remove this entry without hand-hacking Nautilus's metadata. Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Open 'Backgrounds and Emblems' 2. Select Emblems 3. Drag an emblem to the trash. Actual Results: It is now impossible to remove an emblem from the trash because the trash does not have an emblem tab in its properties box. Expected Results: There should be a way to remove the emblem How often does this happen? Always (it is a UI bug).
What version of nautilus and what distro are you running? For me, I can add and remove emblems as follows: Right Click on Trash Left Click on Properties (Left) Click on Emblems Select or De-select and emblem desired. I am using nautilus version 2.2.1. Depending on the version you're using, I suspect this bug should be resolved as either fixed or notabug. I'll mark it as needinfo for now.
Note: Daniel also filed bug 112292, in which he said he used RedHat 9. I'll wait to change this bug, though, since he may be using more than one system...
As Elijah observed from another bug report I am running RH9 (sorry I forgot to add that info to this bug). The Nautilus in this distro claims to be 2.2.1 but even for a freshly created test user there is no emblems tab in the Trash's Properties dialog. If your version of 2.2.1 does not have this problem then clearly this bug should be closed as notabug and I'll submit somthing to Redhat's own bugzilla.
