Description Frederic Crozat 2003-04-29 08:40:51 UTC
1/ Play a file and wait until it is completely played (ie gsr goes back to
"PAUSED" state
2/ Press "Play" button => file doesn't play anymore.

This is because gsr is still in PAUSED state and play stream is at the end
of the stream.

Possible solution : go back to "READY" state when playback is finished. I
think it would also released "/dev/dsp" when playback is finished (it is
not the case ATM), but I'm not 100% sure (I don't know gst internal too
much yet..).

Still valid with gnome-media 2.3.5.
Reassigning to gnome-media maintainer alias.

One more issuse is,

1. Open gnome-sound-properties
2. Enable sound server startup
3. Goto the "Sound Events" tab
4. Play any wav file there, the wav is played properly
5. Open sound recorder and play a wav file. the wav file is played
properly
6. Goto gnome-sound-properties ("Sound Events" tab)
7. Play any wav file, the file will not be played.
8. We need to close sound-recorder in order to play from
gnome-sound-properties
9. Same thing happens with esdplay also.
10. esdplay will not play wav files, when sound-recorder has finished
playing a wav file
and still open.

I guess gnome-sound-recorder is holds the audio device even after
playing.

Will be nice to fix the problem asap. Thanks.

again.

I think these two are really saying the same thing - GSR should tear
down everything when it is not playing. I guess I still think that it
is the responsiblity of ESD to handle this case - where multiple
people would like to access the sound.
