Description Hema Seetharamaiah 2003-04-11 09:24:39 UTC
The reported problem was noticed on

- Solaris (Gnome_2.0.2_05 on S9U4_03)
- Linux Setup info - Gnome - 26th March CVS Head. Built on RH7.1

Steps to reproduce the bug
---------------------------

-> Add a workspace switcher to the panel.
-> Reduce the no.of workspaces to 2 and rename the second workspace to
"test".
-> Open the preferences window of the applet check the box to show
workspace names.
-> remove the current applet instance.
-> Then add a new instance of the applet.

Observations
------------

1. The no. of workspaces (2) and the names ( "test" for the second one) is
remembered.
2. But, the names are not displayed as setup in the preferences of the
previous applet.

In general, preference settings are not remembered across other applet
instances.

But here the workspace info (right side of the preferences window) is
maintained by the window manager and stays across applet instances.

And, the applet specific settings (left side of the preferences window) are
not remembered.

From a user perspective, the applet settings should be completely
remembered or fully discarded.

We have 2 catagories "Workspace Switcher" to the left and
"Workpsaces" to the right. May be we need to name them some other way.
Not sure though. Any ideas or is it okay the way it is atm ?

Hmm, I re-read this again. We probably have to update the
documentation about this, i.e if it's not already
documented.
