Package: gnome-panel Severity: normal Version: 2.0.6 Synopsis: Crash on startup Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel Bugzilla-Component: Panel BugBuddy-GnomeVersion: 2.0 (2.0.3) Description: Description of Problem: Panel crashes on startup Steps to reproduce the problem: 1. Start the panel on login 2. 3. Actual Results: Crashes and tries to restart, but keeps failing. Expected Results: Starts How often does this happen? Ever since I made a change. Not sure what it was. Additional Information: From the commandline I get the following error: system-tray-applet-ERROR **: file obox.c: line 107 (get_class): should not be reached aborting... Hopefully that helps somewhat. Debugging Information: Backtrace was generated from '/usr/bin/gnome-panel' (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... 0x40849587 in waitpid () from /lib/libpthread.so.0

Further investigation of this revealed to me that the offending app was the system-tray. Moving the system tray to a horizontal panel fixed the probelm. It seems as though the system tray cannot be in a vertical panel.
Yep. This is another duplicate of the infamous vertical panel crasher bug. See Havoc's comment in bug 94625 for where you can get fixed packages. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 94625 ***
